Artist Statement – Ronald P. Spagnola
I'm Ronald P. Spagnola, a colored pencil artist and an active member of the East County Art Association. Working patiently in layers of pencil, I create detailed, expressive pieces that bring a sense of life and realism to everything I draw.
My subjects are the things that move me: the beauty of marine life, the character of beloved pets, and the meaningful moments from everyday life that are easy to overlook. I try to capture not just how something looks, but the feeling it carries.
For me, art is about emotion as much as accuracy. I spend time observing my subjects closely so that each finished piece reflects a genuine connection — a quiet moment made permanent on paper.
Over the years, my work has been shown in numerous exhibitions and has earned recognition, including First and Second Place awards. I'm grateful for the encouragement of the community of artists and art enthusiasts I've come to know along the way.
My hope is simple: to share work that captures the beauty in the natural world and the companions and moments we hold dear, and to invite you to pause and feel it too. Thank you for taking the time to look.
